Excellent light gathering, super build (if weighty) and superb daylight full field picture. Highest brightness of any of the 'scopes I own (replaced a 8.5-25x50 Leupold) and the best hunting scope I know of. I've marked this as a "9" since a friend owns a 1" tube version and that, under conditions of light into the objective lens when shooting towards low sun, gives a slightly better picture. I wouldn't recommend anything else for hunting but for target use I'd prefer target knobs.
