Performs well at the rated weight. It will cope with one weight below but it feels very stiff. It isn't all matt, the rod ring whipping is gloss. On the first outing landed 3 small rainbows and although the rod is aimed at larger fish it had enough give to protect a 4lb tippet. It is nicely put together and a bargain at the discounted price. At the full price, not such a bargain. Overall pleased with it.

Bought a 10wt & used for tarpon in the Florida keys. Performed really well in winds up to 10-15mph turning over a tarpon fly on a 14ft leader without to many problems. You would need heavier if winds exceed 15mph. Had the backbone to land an 80lb tarpon in under 20mins. Cracking rod at the discounted price.
