Tempted to try to make your own Scandinavian style bushcraft knife? This is a set that contains the main essential components for making a high quality bushcraft knife, including:

  • the Blade; is 10.5cm (4.2 inches) long, 2.1cm (0.85 inches) wide and 2.5mm thick. It is Very Sharp and is made from high quality 1770 carbon steel (HRC 57). The blade extends with an "internal tang" that is 11cm (4.3 inches) long.
  • a Handle Block; made from curly birch measuring approx. 12cm (4.75 inches ) x 3.2cm (1.25 inches ) x 4.9cm (2 inches).
  • a Reindeer Antler piece; 0.6 inches (1.5cm) thick and minimum 2cm (0.8 inches) in diametre at the most narrow posit.  This piece is suited in size to the brass bolster and is ideal to include as part of the handle closest to the bolster.
  • a Sheath Leather; Tanned 2.5mm thick piece of brown stiffer leather for the sheath measuring 25cm (10 inches) x 12cm (4.75 inches).
  • Inner sheath; made from strong plastic to give the sheath shape and to protect it from the blade.
  • String; approx 1 meter (3 foot 4 inches) strong white string for stitching the sheath
  • a Brass bolster; creates a strong and neat transition between handle and sheath.
  • Reindeer leather strip; a thinner approx. 15.5 inches (40cm) long fully tanned strip/thread of lighter flexible reindeer leather for the belt-hanger.
  • New improved instructions; included in English.

All materials are good quality, knife blade is sharp out of the box. The curly birch is well selected with good grain pattern. A tip to consider is to heat the brass bolster rather than fit it cold - you get a better hold. hidden tang style requires epoxy, I used devcon 2 ton - you wont get better. I customised mine with some additional buffalo horn and an antler scabbard, it looks better than the off the shelf knives. However if you want a good looking basic knife its all in the box.

got this today and it was in a very nice box. everything inside was excellent. nice piece of wood and bone with nicely finished blade. down sides; internal packaging wasn't brilliant everything was left to move freely. the blade protector was a little shabby. but overall it was a great buy and everything came quickly and well packaged.
