Small but substantial. Originally I had ordered Bushnell 8x56s which Uttings could not locate so they offered me these. The Bushnells are like two milk bottles tied together and when the package came - well wrapped up, I assumed the opticrons would be brick-like. Instead they are like a couple of small coke cans with lens covers back and front. They focus close to and the eyecaps come out in 2 stages. They are not excessively heavy due to the thin magnesium body. The only thing I would change is the velcro clasp on the soft case because it is noisy. In bad light they seem to keep pace with a 7x42 but have a narrower FOV. I hope to use them for deer stalking because they certainly are small enough. I would have used the Bushnells only on a high seat and have the dog pack them in whereas these Opticrons will be slung around my neck.
