Fenix HM75R Pro Headlamp
The Fenix HM75R Pro Headlamp is a rechargeable head torch designed for demanding rescue, industrial, sea fishing and caving environments. Combining spotlight, floodlight, combined white light and red light modes, it delivers up to 3,500 lumens, with a maximum spotlight beam distance of 398 metres.
A magnesium alloy body, replaceable 5,500mAh battery and straightforward rotary controls provide a practical combination of rugged construction, versatile illumination and extended runtime.
Four Lighting Modes
A Luminus SFT90X white LED provides the spotlight, supported by two Luminus SST25 white LEDs and a separate OSRAM red LED. Use the spotlight for distance, floodlight for broader illumination, or combine both for a maximum output of 3,500 lumens. Red light offers three brightness levels and a flashing setting.
The spotlight uses a smooth aluminium reflector, while the flood and red beams use faceted TIR lenses. A toughened ultra-clear glass lens with an anti-reflective coating completes the optical construction.
Rugged Construction & Comfortable Adjustment
The magnesium alloy lamp body features a Type III hard-anodised anti-abrasive finish. IP68 protection provides dustproofing and waterproofing to a depth of 2 metres, complemented by 2-metre impact resistance.
A wide main headband with reflective lettering works with an overhead strap for comfort. The lamp angle adjusts through 90 degrees, allowing the beam direction to be set to suit the task. The headband arrives assembled and adjusts using sliding buckles.
Controls & Protective Features
The rotary switch selects the lighting mode, while the central push button cycles through brightness levels. A dedicated lockout position helps prevent unintended operation. Brightness memory recalls the last setting in each white light mode, with High recalled when the lamp was previously switched off in Turbo.
An optional proximity sensor reduces white light output to Low when the lamp is approximately 60mm from an illuminated object. This function is disabled by default. Intelligent thermal protection reduces brightness when the lamp reaches 55°C, while low-voltage protection progressively lowers output as the battery becomes depleted.
Rechargeable Power
The included Fenix ARB-L21-5500 21700 battery is replaceable and recharges through the headlamp’s USB-C port. Four indicators display battery and charging status. The lamp can operate while charging, although Turbo is unavailable during charging.
For extended low-output use, the 5-lumen floodlight setting provides a tested runtime of up to 516 hours. Higher outputs offer substantially greater brightness with shorter total runtimes.

- High: 400 lumens; 11 hours 21 minutes; 42-metre beam.
- Turbo: 1,500 lumens; 3 hours 39 minutes total runtime; 85-metre beam.
Combined Spotlight & Floodlight
- Low: 50 lumens; 56 hours 45 minutes; 29-metre beam.
- Medium: 400 lumens; 14 hours 50 minutes; 81-metre beam.
- High: 1,200 lumens; 4 hours 45 minutes total runtime; 148-metre beam.
- Turbo: 3,500 lumens; 3 hours 22 minutes total runtime; 334-metre beam.
Red Light
- Low: 5 lumens; 366 hours; 6-metre beam.
- Medium: 30 lumens; 74 hours 15 minutes; 14-metre beam.
- High: 140 lumens; 8 hours 25 minutes; 30-metre beam.
- Flashing: 5 lumens.
Runtimes are measured through uninterrupted operation until the battery is depleted under ANSI testing. They do not indicate constant maximum brightness throughout the stated period. Thermal protection and battery condition affect output, and repeatedly restoring a higher brightness level reduces runtime.

Fenix HM75R Pro Headlamp Review
The HM75R Pro combines powerful distance illumination with flood and red light options in a rugged rechargeable design. Its specification suits demanding work and outdoor environments where beam choice, weather protection and replaceable power matter. This assessment considers its features and stated performance.
Performance & Key Features
The distinction between maximum brightness and maximum reach is useful: combined white light delivers 3,500 lumens, while the 3,300-lumen spotlight reaches 398 metres. At the other end of the output range, the 5-lumen floodlight offers up to 516 hours of tested runtime. Separate red illumination adds further flexibility, and the optional proximity sensor provides automatic output reduction near an illuminated surface.
Build Quality & Handling
A magnesium alloy body and hard-anodised finish support the headlamp’s demanding-use brief. IP68 protection and 2-metre impact resistance are substantial durability features, while the wide headband, overhead strap and adjustable lamp angle provide practical fitting and beam control. Its complete 214g weight includes the battery and headband.
Is It Easy to Use?
The rotary selector separates mode choice from brightness adjustment, with the central button controlling output. White light memory, direct access to red mode and a rotary lockout simplify routine operation. USB-C charging and a replaceable battery provide convenient power management, with the four-LED indicator showing remaining charge.
Key Takeaways
The HM75R Pro offers a broad output range, strong distance performance and construction suited to harsh environments. Its replaceable battery and separate lighting modes are particularly useful for extended work or outdoor use. Turbo delivers temporary maximum output, with thermal regulation and battery condition affecting sustained brightness. For Uttings customers seeking a rugged, versatile headlamp for sea fishing, caving or demanding practical tasks, its specification makes it a compelling option.
Fenix HM75R Pro Headlamp FAQs
Does the headlamp deliver 3,500 lumens over 398 metres?
These figures apply to different settings. Combined spotlight and floodlight Turbo produces 3,500 lumens with a 334-metre beam. Spotlight Turbo produces 3,300 lumens and reaches 398 metres.
What lighting modes are available?
The headlamp offers spotlight, floodlight, combined spotlight and floodlight, and red light modes. Each white light mode has four brightness levels. Red mode offers three brightness levels and flashing.
How long can it run on its lowest setting?
The 5-lumen floodlight setting has a tested runtime of up to 516 hours. The 5-lumen red light setting runs for up to 366 hours. These figures are measured through uninterrupted operation until the battery is depleted.
Is maximum Turbo brightness sustained for the full stated runtime?
No. The stated Turbo runtimes are total operating times, including reduced output. The Turbo shortcut returns to the previous setting after 60 seconds without further operation, and thermal protection reduces brightness when the lamp reaches 55°C.
Is the HM75R Pro waterproof?
Yes. It is rated IP68, with dustproof protection and waterproofing to a depth of 2 metres. It also has a stated impact resistance of 2 metres.
Is the battery included and replaceable?
Yes. A Fenix ARB-L21-5500 21700 rechargeable battery is included and can be replaced. Fenix recommends protected ARB-L21 series batteries and prohibits unprotected cells.
Can the headlamp be used while charging?
Yes. The headlamp can operate while connected for USB-C charging. All outputs are available except Turbo.
How does the proximity sensor work?
When enabled, the sensor reduces white light output to Low when the lamp is approximately 60mm from an illuminated object. Moving it away for more than 0.8 seconds allows the previous brightness to return gradually. The sensor is disabled by default and can be toggled by holding the electronic switch for six seconds while the lamp is off.
Does it remember the previous brightness setting?
Yes, each white light mode remembers its last selected output. Red mode does not use brightness memory. If the lamp was switched off in Turbo, it restarts in High.
Can the beam angle and headband fit be adjusted?
Yes. The lamp angle adjusts through 90 degrees, and the headband fit is adjusted using sliding buckles. A wide main band with reflective lettering and an overhead strap are supplied assembled.
