Fenix HM65R V2.0 NITERAY Rechargeable Headlamp

The Fenix HM65R V2.0 NITERAY is a powerful UK-exclusive rechargeable headlamp designed for demanding outdoor, professional and industrial use. Producing up to 2200 lumens with a maximum beam distance of 230 metres, it combines a focused spotlight, a broad floodlight and six red-light settings within a lightweight magnesium-alloy body.

Independent spotlight and floodlight controls allow each beam to be used separately or together. Five spotlight levels, four floodlight levels and selectable combined outputs provide precise control for everything from close-range tasks to long-distance illumination. A dedicated 175-lumen work mode balances a 150-lumen floodlight with a 25-lumen spotlight, delivering useful close-up light and additional reach for over 14 hours.

The red-light system includes outputs from a discreet 3-lumen stealth setting to a powerful 140-lumen high mode, plus a flashing setting. Direct red-light access, brightness memory and dual top-mounted switches make the lamp straightforward to operate, even while wearing gloves.

Constructed from high-strength magnesium alloy, the lamp is approximately 30% lighter than an equivalent aluminium design. It is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance to a depth of two metres and has been impact tested to two metres, making it suitable for challenging weather and working environments.

The included Fenix ARB-L18-3400 rechargeable 18650 battery charges through the protected USB-C port in approximately 2.5 hours. The headlamp can also operate while charging, excluding Turbo mode, while a four-LED indicator provides a clear view of the remaining battery level.

Fenix HM65R V2.0 NITERAY Headlamp Review

The Fenix HM65R V2.0 NITERAY stands out for the breadth of control it offers rather than relying solely on its headline 2200-lumen output. Separate spotlight and floodlight switches make it easy to select the right type of illumination, while the ability to combine both beams gives the lamp genuine versatility across outdoor, trade and industrial applications.

The additional NITERAY-specific outputs are particularly useful. The 350-lumen spotlight and 50-lumen floodlight bridge gaps between the standard brightness levels, while the combined 175-lumen work mode is well judged for prolonged close-range tasks. Its 14-hour runtime makes it more practical for a full shift or extended overnight use than repeatedly operating the lamp at unnecessarily high outputs.

The red-light system is another major strength. With settings ranging from a discreet 3-lumen stealth mode to a substantial 140-lumen high mode, it is considerably more adaptable than the basic red LEDs fitted to many headlamps. Direct access by double-clicking either switch also prevents the user from having to cycle through white-light modes first.

Despite its extensive output options, the controls remain relatively straightforward. The two white-light beams are independently operated, brightness memory recalls the previous setting, and lockout protection reduces the risk of accidental activation in storage or transit.

The magnesium-alloy body keeps the overall weight down while retaining IP68 weather protection and two-metre impact resistance. The supplied SPORT headband provides quick adjustment and incorporates an emergency whistle, while the additional conventional headband broadens the lamp's suitability for caving, industrial work and other demanding environments.

Overall, the HM65R V2.0 NITERAY is a highly configurable rechargeable headlamp with strong output, useful intermediate settings and unusually comprehensive red-light functionality. It is best suited to users who need more control and durability than a simple recreational headlamp can provide.
