HIKMICRO Thunder 3.0 TQ50CL (640x512) Thermal Front Clip-On w/LRF. HIKMICRO THUNDER TQ50CL 3.0 Thermal Monocular is equipped with an unparalleled powerful thermal detector, with higher sensitivity and the latest image processing algorithm, ensuring users catch the finest details no matter the weather or light conditions. With a 1920 × 1080 OLED larger display, THUNDER 3.0 provides a better visual experience.
The HIKMICRO Thunder 3.0 front clip on enables you to hunt with the latest generation thermal technology while also retaining the experience of shooting with your traditional optical riflescope.
The Thunder 3.0 introduces many innovations to enhance your hunting including shutterless technology and 1000m Laser Range Finder (LRF) located discreetly inside the front objective lens which allows you to accurately judge the distance to your target.
Built around HIKMICRO’s latest generation 640x512px, Sub 15mK NETD sensors, the Thunder 3.0 is capable of delivering an unbelievably detailed image. Not only does this help you to positively identify animals but also gives you a clear view of the surroundings and background. This highly accurate thermal sensor will also continue to deliver in the most challenging conditions, such as rain and fog.
The Thunder 3.0 utilises a compact and ergonomic chassis which has been developed to ensure that all of the controls fall easily to reach from your shooting position. The thunder is paired to a Rusan Quick-Release clamp system which is tailored to fit your existing optic perfectly. This system allows you to quickly and repeatably add or remove the thermal unit from your optical scope with the twist of a locking ring.
In addition to the latest hardware, HIKMICRO are committed to developing advanced software to enhance your hunting experience. The Thunder 3.0 is loaded with new technology like Image Pro 2.0 which uses intelligent algorithms to build extra detail to the image.
Another unique technology which is set to revolutionise your thermal shooting experience is shutterless technology. The shutter is used in traditional thermal devices to control image noise. It is a physical process which requires your image to freeze for a few seconds to complete. During that interruption it is impossible to take your shot. To avoid this problem, HIKMICRO have developed software which has replaced the physical shutter and removed this problem.
Powered by the same removable battery as the Thunder 2.0, the Thunder 3.0 delivers an impressive run time of 6 Hours.

HIKMICRO Thunder 3.0 TQ50CL (640x512) Thermal Front Clip-On w/LRF FAQs
What thermal sensor does this clip-on use?
It is built around a 640 × 512 uncooled focal plane array with a 12 μm pixel pitch. The sensor offers a NETD of less than 15 mK, which helps reveal fine temperature differences. This results in clearer detail and improved target identification in challenging conditions.
What is the effective detection range?
With its 50 mm F1.0 lens, the unit provides a detection range of up to 2600 metres. This long-range capability is designed for spotting heat signatures well before visual identification. Actual recognition distances will depend on environmental factors and target size.
How does the integrated laser rangefinder work?
The built-in Class 1 laser rangefinder is discreetly positioned within the front lens assembly. It measures distances from 10 m up to 1000 m with an accuracy of ±1 m. Ballistic calculation support assists with more informed shot placement.
Does the device interrupt the image during calibration?
No, it uses HIKMICRO’s Shutterless Image System instead of a physical shutter. This software-based approach maintains continuous image flow without freezing the display. It is particularly beneficial when tracking moving targets.
What magnification does it operate at?
The thermal unit itself operates at a fixed 1× magnification. It is designed to be used in front of a daytime scope with a recommended magnification range of 1–15×. This setup helps preserve image clarity while allowing flexibility through the primary optic.
Is video and audio recording supported?
Yes, onboard video and snapshot capture are included, along with audio recording. Footage is stored internally on a 64 GB EMMC memory. Recoil-activated recording ensures key moments are captured automatically.
How long does the battery last?
The replaceable and rechargeable Li-ion battery provides up to six hours of continuous operation under typical conditions. Battery life is quoted at 25 °C with hotspot functions disabled. External power can also be supplied via USB-C.
Is it suitable for high-recoil rifles?
The unit is rated to withstand recoil forces up to 1000 g for 0.4 ms. This makes it suitable for use on a wide range of hunting calibres. Its internal electronics and housing are designed to maintain zero and reliability.
What level of environmental protection does it offer?
With an IP67 protection rating, the device is fully dust-tight and resistant to immersion in water. It is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -30 °C to +55 °C. This makes it suitable for year-round use in harsh environments.
