HIKMICRO Thunder 3.0 TQ50C (640x512) Thermal Front Clip-On. HIKMICRO THUNDER TQ50C 3.0 Thermal Monocular is equipped with an unparalleled powerful thermal detector, with higher sensitivity and the latest image processing algorithm, ensuring users catch the finest details no matter the weather or light conditions. With a 1920 × 1080 OLED larger display, THUNDER 3.0 provides a better visual experience.
The HIKMICRO Thunder 3.0 front clip on enables you to hunt with the latest generation thermal technology while also retaining the experience of shooting with your traditional optical riflescope.
The Thunder 3.0 introduces many innovations to enhance your hunting including shutterless technology.
Built around HIKMICRO’s latest generation 640x512px, Sub 15mK NETD sensors, the Thunder 3.0 is capable of delivering an unbelievably detailed image. Not only does this help you to positively identify animals but also gives you a clear view of the surroundings and background. This highly accurate thermal sensor will also continue to deliver in the most challenging conditions, such as rain and fog.
The Thunder 3.0 utilises a compact and ergonomic chassis which has been developed to ensure that all of the controls fall easily to reach from your shooting position. The thunder is paired to a Rusan Quick-Release clamp system which is tailored to fit your existing optic perfectly. This system allows you to quickly and repeatably add or remove the thermal unit from your optical scope with the twist of a locking ring.
In addition to the latest hardware, HIKMICRO are committed to developing advanced software to enhance your hunting experience. The Thunder 3.0 is loaded with new technology like Image Pro 2.0 which uses intelligent algorithms to build extra detail to the image.
Another unique technology which is set to revolutionise your thermal shooting experience is shutterless technology. The shutter is used in traditional thermal devices to control image noise. It is a physical process which requires your image to freeze for a few seconds to complete. During that interruption it is impossible to take your shot. To avoid this problem, HIKMICRO have developed software which has replaced the physical shutter and removed this problem.
Powered by the same removable battery as the Thunder 2.0, the Thunder 3.0 delivers an impressive run time of 6 Hours.

HIKMICRO Thunder 3.0 TQ50C (640x512) Thermal Front Clip-On FAQs
How does the 640 × 512 thermal sensor benefit real-world hunting?
The 640 × 512 sensor provides a higher pixel density than lower-resolution alternatives, resulting in clearer outlines and finer detail. Combined with a NETD of less than 15 mK, it allows subtle temperature differences to be seen more easily. This improves confidence when identifying animals and assessing surroundings.
What advantage does the shutterless image system provide?
The shutterless image system removes the need for a physical calibration shutter. This means the image does not freeze during operation, allowing continuous observation and uninterrupted shooting opportunities. It also reduces mechanical noise and distraction in the field.
What is the effective detection range of the Thunder 3.0 TQ50C?
With its 50 mm F1.0 lens, the Thunder 3.0 TQ50C offers a detection range of up to 2600 metres. This refers to the ability to detect a heat source rather than identify it in detail. Identification distances will vary depending on target size and environmental conditions.
Is the Thunder 3.0 suitable for use with high-calibre rifles?
Yes, the unit is rated to withstand recoil up to 1000 g/0.4 ms. This high shock resistance makes it suitable for use on a wide range of hunting calibres. The magnesium alloy construction further supports durability under recoil.
What daytime scope magnification works best with this clip-on?
The recommended magnification range for the daytime scope is 1–15×. Staying within this range helps maintain image quality and alignment when using the clip-on. Excessive magnification may reduce perceived clarity.
How long does the battery last in typical use?
The removable and rechargeable Li-ion battery provides up to six hours of continuous operation at 25°C with hotspot features disabled. Batteries can be swapped in the field to extend runtime. External power can also be supplied via the USB-C port.
Does the Thunder 3.0 TQ50C support video recording?
Yes, it features onboard video recording and snapshot capture with 64 GB of internal storage. Audio recording and recoil-activated recording are also supported. Recorded content can be reviewed directly on the device.
How weather-resistant is the Thunder 3.0?
The unit carries an IP67 protection rating, meaning it is fully dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water. It is designed to operate reliably in temperatures from -30°C to +55°C. This makes it suitable for year-round hunting in harsh environments.
What field of view does the Thunder 3.0 TQ50C provide?
At 100 metres, the field of view measures 15.4 m horizontally and 12.3 m vertically. This balanced field of view supports both scanning and precise shot placement. The fixed 1× thermal magnification helps maintain natural image scale.
