HIKMICRO Thunder 2.0 19mm (256x192) Thermal Module and Riflescope Picatinny Rail FAQs
What level of image detail can I expect from the 256 × 192 thermal sensor?
The 256 × 192 resolution sensor provides clear heat detection and sufficient detail for identifying animals and background features at typical air rifle and rimfire distances. Its sub-35 mK NETD sensitivity allows it to distinguish subtle temperature differences effectively. While it is not designed for extreme long-range identification, it performs very well within its intended use case.
How does the 19 mm lens affect field of view and detection range?
The 19 mm F1.0 lens delivers a horizontal field of view of 16.17 m at 100 m, offering a good balance between situational awareness and target detail. Detection range is rated up to 1000 m, which is more than sufficient for spotting heat sources well beyond typical engagement distances. This configuration is particularly practical for scanning and short- to mid-range shooting.
Is the Thunder 2.0 suitable for air rifle and rimfire recoil?
Yes, the Thunder 2.0 is specifically optimised for air rifle and rimfire use. It features high shock resistance rated up to 1000 g, ensuring reliability under repeated recoil. This makes it well matched to lighter platforms where durability and weight control are important.
How long does the battery last during normal use?
The removable and rechargeable Li-ion battery provides at least 10 hours of continuous operation at 25°C with hotspot functions disabled. This allows for extended hunting sessions without frequent battery changes. The battery can also be recharged away from the rifle for added convenience.
Can the Thunder 2.0 record video and audio?
The scope supports on-board video recording and snapshot capture using its built-in 16 GB EMMC storage. It also includes audio recording and recoil-activated recording, allowing key moments to be captured automatically. These features are useful for reviewing shots or sharing footage.
What display technology does the Thunder 2.0 use?
It is equipped with a 0.39-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1024 × 768. This provides sharp imagery with good contrast and reduced eye strain during prolonged viewing. Brightness and tone can be adjusted to suit different environments and preferences.
Which thermal colour palettes are available?
The Thunder 2.0 offers Black Hot, White Hot, Red Hot, and Fusion colour palettes. These options allow users to tailor the image to different terrain and weather conditions. Palette selection can significantly enhance target visibility depending on the scenario.
Does it support Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode?
Yes, Picture-in-Picture mode is included and allows for a magnified view of the target area while retaining situational awareness. This is particularly useful for more precise shot placement. PIP works in conjunction with the digital zoom system.
Is the Thunder 2.0 weatherproof?
The scope carries an IP67 protection rating, meaning it is fully dustproof and resistant to water immersion. It is designed to operate reliably in temperatures ranging from -30°C to +55°C. This makes it suitable for year-round outdoor use in challenging conditions.
Can I power the Thunder 2.0 using an external power source?
Yes, the Thunder 2.0 supports external power via a USB Type-C connection rated at 5 VDC, 2 A. This allows the use of power banks for extended runtime if required. External power support adds flexibility for longer outings.

Product Reviews
Review by Bob G
I previously owned the model before this and was very happy with it. This newer model is half the price of previous one owned, clearer picture, longer battery life, and faster loading, so is an excellent price and device for that price, highly recomended for the price.
Review by Brian Williams
Good entry level thermal scope. Suitable for air rifle use. Zeroing using freeze is easy but need to figure a target. I use a black board with an aluminium foil disc. Works well.
Review by Nad
Whilst most thermal products have their drawbacks at this current price point there are no complaints of this entry level system. Very happy with its performance and hope that it lasts!
