Akios Spyro RS 5000 Spinning Reel. AKIOS SPYRO RS Series of Reels is a new range of high quality fixed spool reels constructing the main body of the reel from aluminium using CNC technology giving a very strong and powerful frame that remains ultra-rigid, in addition to a balanced RBS (Rotor Balance System) powered by a steel main shaft and brass pinion giving a powerful retrieve and fighting ability. The Spyro RS series has upgraded Waterproof sealed bearings for extra protection internally. The reel has been tested in saltwater situations in the U.K. and overseas for the last 12 months, which has thrown back exceptional Lure and bait fishing results. Two aluminium spools with precision power micrometric carbon 16kg/36lb on 3000 sizes and a 20kg/44lb drag system on 4000/5000. The handle is CNC construction and is a quick screw and fold mechanism.

At the current heavily discounted price these reels provide a high quality excellent value and better specification alternative to budget Daiwa and shimano reels. The reel is based around an aluminium foot and frame which instantly stiffens the reel and gives a much more solid feeling whilst cranking under load this is coupled with a high bearing count with shielded sealed bearings a braid spool and spare full depth spool to make it a reel of incomparable value To be critical the colour scheme is a touch gareish and not necessarily to my taste but Comparitively the shimano and Daiwa budget reels will be made of plastic will squirm under heavy load and will only come with only one spool.

Would have be five stars but cant understand why manufacturer changed the colour of the deep spool instead of a simple marking for identification which I feel spoils the look..that said it was still great to use!!
