Shimano Super GT RD 4000 Reel

Shimano Super GT RD 4000 Reel. The iconic Super GT has been updated with some exciting new features. The fabulous Fightin’ Drag system is complimented with other unique features such as AR-C spool, Aero Wrap II and a lightweight yet durable XT-7 body material. The sleek cosmetics of the Super GT hide great power, this power comes from precision engineering which includes zinc diecast gear and the use of high torque 5.0:1 (2500 size) and 4.8:1 (4000 size) gear ratios. Three shielded stainless steel ball bearings and a roller bearing encourage super smooth running and a single machined aluminium handle delivers great winding power. The Super GT is available in both 2500 and 4000 sizes meaning there is a Super GT to suit many styles of angling from lure work for predatory species through to all styles of float and feeder fishing.

ARC Spool
Shimano AR-C Spool is a patented spool design with an angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. AR-C spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knots when using braid.

Fightin Drag
A secondary drag system used on some rear drag reels. Fightin’ Drag enables the easy adjustment of the drag setting whilst playing the fish.

XT7
XT7 is the original Shimano composite reel material. Used on midpriced and budget reels and spools XT7 is reliable, robust and lightweight.

Cold Forged Aluminium
Cold Forged aluminium is used for some ‘round’ reels, fly reels and is also used for many types of spool. Made from one single piece of aluminium Cold Forging produces great strength.

DynaBalance
Dyna-Balance reduces wobble during the retrieve by counter balancing the rotor to enhance sensitivity and smoothness. By using computer balancing Shimano are able to redistribute the rotor weight to create eliminate vibrations.

Easy Maintenance
Easy Maintenance is a small oil lubrication port that enables direct lubrication of the inner workings of a reel with approved Shimano lubricant. Some highend Shimano reels have a line roller lubrication option.

Floating Shaft II
The key friction area on most fixed spool reels is where the spool drive shaft meets the pinion. Shimano designers have overcome this by reducing a large percentage of surface area contact and incorporating bearings on either side of the shaft. The resultant design leaves the shaft in a ‘floating’ position, considerably improving efficiency and longevity.

Hypergear
The precision engineered main Hypergear transmits more power from the handle to the rotor. Designed to exacting tolerances, it requires less effort but returns more retrieve playing torque with vastly reduced component wear.

S ARB
Shimano S A-RB bearings are high corrosion resistant A-RB ball bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand, salt or dust.

Super Stopper II
Super Stopper II anti-reverse uses a one-way roller bearing that eliminates back-play. This provides  the angler with instant hook setting power.

Power Roller
The special grooved design of the Shimano Power Roller significantly reduces line twist and is a big advantage when using thin mono and braid.
