Shimano Speedmaster 16LD II Reel. The 19SPEEDMASTER LD is a new addition to Shimano's conventional lever drag line up. The Speedmaster LDII is a very versatile reel. Because of it's compact sizing, it can be used for many types of rods and fishing rechniques like trolling, stand-up fishing, bottom fishing and even casting. The 2-SPEED Gearing is very helpful: when the bait / lure needs to be retrieved fast, the angler can use the 5.7:1 gear ratio which winds in 107 cm per rotation of the handle. When a big fish is hooked and the angler needs to have a powerful retrieve to get the fish in, the 3.1:1 gear ratio can be used.

Hagane Body
The HAGANE Body is produced from high rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rocksolid housing and support for the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout the reel.

Compact Body
A compact body is a reel with a smaller body than usual, when you compare it to the line capacity of a equivalent model. For example: a size 3000 reel and a size C3000 reel have the same line capacity, but the C3000 has a smaller body.

Super Free System
The Super Free bearing supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.
