As others have said, needs care to avoid cross threading the inner locking ring. Just needs a tiny bit of lube anc patience, and start tightening by hand before engaging the supplied tool. With the AO scopes you need to think about where to position the hinge before tightening fully, as it may well foul on the body of the rifle when rotating the objective lens to adjust the parallax. Excellent quality and far superior to the plastic push on flip up covers. Well worth the investment.

Bought this flip up cover for my Hawke fast mount scope. Wanted to also use it as a blinder when in an open position. A bit fiddly to fit but put a little silicone oil on the thread (plumbers o ring lube) hold the outer flange against the scope then with a little pressure screw the threaded section through the outer flange and onto the scope. Watch for an even gap between outer flange and inner screw (to ensure not crossed) and itll screw up just fine.

Well made metal cover. Assemble using the smallest dab of a WD40 silicon grease (applied with the tip of a wooden toothpick not directly from the spray!) on the screwthread of the cover will ensure easy assembly. Also a small dab applied in the same fashion on the hinge will aid opening; and the same on the inside of the two plastic snaplocks will greatly aid releasing them.

This is an excellent product (I also bought the Size 1 ocular) and is far better than the cheaper plastic options. Treat this as screwing a filter onto a single lens reflex (SLR) camera, as it's no more than that. The application of a minute dab dry silicon lubricant will aid the ease of fitting. The fitting tool is only needed to do the final tightening (gently!)

Larger diameter can be a little awkward getting on but good quality items and cheapest around.

Don't waste your money on these they are impossible to fit. The tool that comes with them are not wide enough to engage the slots and the thread is impossible to engage. Even if you do manage to engage the thread the tool provided will not tighten properly. Awful product and you stand a good chance of damaging your lens. Be warned, you'll have to be a professional gunsmith to fit these properly.

Quality secure protection for your scope so much better than the horrible caps on elastic. A bit tricky to fit the tool for tightening the inner ring into the thread could easily slip and make you scratch your lens and the thread is quite difficult to engage. I recommend lubricating the inner surfaces with gun oil before fitting. Use some wadded tissue to protect the lens when screwing it in place and dont tighten too much. Youll need to rotate the cap round when using the objective ring on your scope.
