Product Details

Manufacturer code: PUL-76588W     |     Our code: 146685

The Pulsar Trail 3 LRF XR50 is a compact thermal riflescope combining a 640 × 480 sensor, 50mm f/1.0 lens and integrated laser rangefinder. Its 3x starting magnification and 8.8° horizontal field of view provide a broader starting view than the XQ50, with additional sensor resolution for examining the scene.

Key features

  • 640 × 480 thermal sensor with adjustable image processing.
  • 50mm f/1.0 objective lens with variable digital magnification.
  • Picture-in-Picture for a magnified inset within the wider scene.
  • Integrated laser rangefinder and supported ballistic app connectivity.
  • Compact monoblock housing with a rail-mounting format.
  • Built-in image and video recording with smartphone connectivity.

Thermal image and field of view

The 640 × 480, 12µm sensor works with a 50mm f/1.0 objective lens. At the 3x starting magnification, the horizontal field of view is 8.8°, equivalent to 15.4m at 100m. Digital zoom provides a closer view when you want to inspect an object already located.

The thermal image supports observation by day and night without requiring an additional illuminator. Usable detail depends on the subject, distance and conditions.

Adjust image processing to the conditions

Sensor NETD is below 30mK, with system NETD below 18mK. Thermal sensitivity helps distinguish small temperature differences between a subject and its surroundings. Sensitivity amplification, brightness and contrast controls let you adjust the image as thermal contrast changes. A smoothing filter provides further adjustment. Choose from 9 thermal colour palettes with supporting current firmware to change the presentation of temperature differences.

Magnification and Picture-in-Picture

Picture-in-Picture displays a magnified inset while retaining the wider scene in the main viewing area. This allows closer examination of an object without filling the entire display with the zoomed view. Magnification can be adjusted through the 3–24x range.

Compact housing and viewing controls

The monoblock magnesium alloy housing uses a rail-mounting format. Compatible mounting options include Pulsar Weaver N, SQD and LQD mounts; the mount supplied depends on the ordered configuration. Ambidextrous focusing controls suit either hand, while the proximity sensor can switch off the Full HD AMOLED display when the scope is lowered. IP67 protection covers dust and water ingress.

Integrated laser rangefinder

The built-in laser rangefinder measures up to 1,200m with a stated accuracy of ±1m. Maximum usable range depends on the object and conditions. Stream Vision Ballistics supports work with range measurements and an entered ballistic profile.

Rechargeable power

The removable LPS7i rechargeable battery can be exchanged for a separately purchased spare during longer outings. USB-C supports charging and external power. Actual endurance depends on temperature, recording and wireless use.

Recording and smartphone connectivity

Capture still photographs and video with sound directly to the 64GB internal memory. Stream Vision 2 connects a compatible Android or iOS smartphone or tablet for live viewing, remote control, downloading files and firmware updates. Dual-band Wi-Fi supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections.

Compare with similar models

Trail 3 LRF XR50 or Trail 3 LRF XQ50?

Compare the Pulsar Trail 3 LRF XQ50. The XQ50 starts at 3.5x with a narrower 7.5° view and 384 × 288 sensor. The XR50 offers higher sensor resolution and a wider 8.8° view at 3x. Both include the same specified 1,200m rangefinder.

Trail 3 LRF XR50 or Thermion 2 LRF XG50?

Compare the Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XG50. The Thermion uses standard 30mm rings, while Trail 3 uses a rail-mounting format. Both start at 3x with a 640 × 480 sensor; Trail 3 adds 1,200m laser ranging and a Full HD AMOLED display.
