The Pulsar Krypton 2 FXG50 thermal front attachment converts compatible daytime optics into a thermal viewing system. A 640 × 480 sensor and 50mm f/1.0 lens provide the thermal image, while the attachment format allows you to retain the viewing position and reticle of your existing day scope.

Key features

  • Front attachment format for compatible daytime optics.
  • 640 × 480 thermal sensor and 50mm f/1.0 lens.
  • Full HD AMOLED display and adjustable image processing.
  • Rechargeable IPS7 battery with quick replacement.
  • Bluetooth remote control for access to digital functions.
  • Built-in recording and Stream Vision 2 smartphone connectivity.

Thermal viewing through compatible day optics

The attachment operates at 1x magnification and is designed for use ahead of suitable daytime optics. The exact-model specification recommends day-optic magnification from 2x to 6x. Correct mounting requires a compatible adaptor selected for the actual outside diameter and configuration of the day optic; an adaptor is a separate purchase.

Sensor, display and image adjustment

The 640 × 480, 12µm sensor works with a 50mm f/1.0 lens and a Full HD 1920 × 1080 AMOLED display. Sensor NETD is below 40mK and system NETD below 20mK. Sensitivity amplification, brightness, contrast and selectable palettes let you adjust how thermal differences are displayed. The quoted 2,300m detection range relates to a large animal-sized reference object, rather than a guaranteed identification distance.

Operation and alternative handheld use

The supplied Bluetooth remote duplicates key device controls, allowing settings to be changed without reaching forward to the attachment. A compatible optional Pulsar 3x20 B ocular provides a route to handheld observation. Check the exact attachment and ocular configuration before ordering the separate components.

Power and construction

A removable IPS7 rechargeable battery provides a quoted maximum of 11 hours at 22°C, with actual runtime affected by temperature, recording and wireless use. The magnesium alloy housing is IPX7 waterproof rated. The published maximum recoil energy is 6,000J.

Recording and smartphone connectivity

Capture still photographs and video with sound directly to the 16GB internal memory. Stream Vision 2 connects a compatible Android or iOS smartphone or tablet for live viewing, remote control, downloading files and firmware updates. Dual-band Wi-Fi supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections.

Compare with similar models

Krypton 2 FXG50 or Thermion 2 LRF XG50?

Compare the Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XG50. The Thermion is a complete thermal riflescope with its own electronic reticle and integrated rangefinder. The Krypton is a front attachment for compatible daytime optics, making the existing optic and adaptor fit central to the choice.

Krypton 2 FXG50 or Telos LRF XG50?

Compare the Pulsar Telos LRF XG50. The Telos is a complete handheld monocular with its own eyepiece and integrated rangefinder. The FXG50 is primarily a front attachment; handheld viewing requires a compatible optional ocular.
