Product Details

Manufacturer code: PUL-77517     |     Our code: 145843

The Pulsar Axion Compact XQ19 thermal imaging monocular combines a wide field of view with a compact, lightweight design for wildlife observation and searching your surroundings. Its low 1.5x starting magnification suits scanning woodland edges and fields, while thermal imaging, recording and smartphone connectivity provide useful observation tools in one handheld device.

Key features

  • 384 × 288 thermal sensor with high sensitivity for distinguishing small temperature differences.
  • Wide viewing angle and low starting magnification for scanning larger areas.
  • Picture-in-Picture provides a magnified inset while retaining the wider scene.
  • Adjustable thermal image processing and nine colour palettes with current firmware.
  • Removable APS3 rechargeable battery for replacement during extended outings.
  • Built-in photo and video recording with audio, plus Stream Vision 2 connectivity.

Wide-field viewing for searching and scanning

The XQ19 pairs a 19mm f/1.0 objective lens with a 1.5x starting magnification. Its 19.5° horizontal field of view covers 34.7m at 100m, helping you survey your surroundings and follow movement while keeping more of the scene visible.

Magnification extends to 6x using digital zoom. You can increase magnification smoothly or select stepped zoom settings when you want a closer view of an object already located.

Sensitive thermal imaging by day and night

The 384 × 288, 17µm thermal sensor detects temperature differences to reveal heat signatures. Sensor NETD is less than 25mK, with a system NETD of less than 18mK incorporating image processing. This sensitivity helps distinguish a subject from its surroundings when temperature contrast is low.

The quoted detection range is up to 750m for a deer-sized object. Actual observation performance depends on the subject and conditions; this detection figure does not establish an identification distance.

Picture-in-Picture and image adjustment

Picture-in-Picture displays a magnified image in a separate window while the main view remains at the base magnification. This lets you examine a subject more closely while retaining the surrounding scene.

Normal, High and Ultra sensitivity enhancement settings provide different levels of image processing. Brightness, contrast and a smoothing filter allow further adjustment, while User Mode saves your selected brightness and contrast preferences.

Nine colour palettes are available with current firmware, including White Hot, Black Hot and Green. These change how temperature differences appear, allowing you to choose a presentation that suits the scene and your viewing preferences.

Compact handling and waterproof protection

Measuring 134.5 × 38 × 71mm, the XQ19 is designed for carrying in a pocket and operating with one hand. It weighs 250g without the battery and approximately 300g with the battery installed.

A rubberised strip along the underside assists grip, while the IPX7 waterproof rating supports use in wet conditions. Separate objective and eyepiece focusing controls let you adjust the scene and display to your eyes.

Rechargeable and replaceable battery

The supplied APS3 lithium-ion battery provides up to eight hours of operation at 22°C. Actual endurance varies with temperature and use of functions such as Wi-Fi and recording.

The battery is removable, allowing a depleted pack to be exchanged for a separately purchased spare. A 5V USB-C connection also supports external power. Display Off and automatic shutdown functions provide additional power management.

Record observations and connect to Stream Vision 2

Capture photographs and video with sound directly to the 64GB internal memory. Recordings can be downloaded for reviewing and sharing after your observation session.

Stream Vision 2 connects a compatible Android or iOS smartphone or tablet over Wi-Fi for live viewing, remote control, downloading files and firmware updates. Both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands are supported.

Estimate distance using known subject size

The stadiametric rangefinder estimates distance by comparing an object's apparent size with a known reference height. Adjust the on-screen markers around the subject to obtain an approximate distance, using the predefined hare, boar or deer references as appropriate.

Compare with similar Pulsar monoculars

Axion Compact XQ19 or Axion XQ30 Pro?

The Pulsar Axion XQ30 Pro also uses a 384 × 288 thermal sensor, but starts at 2x magnification and extends to 8x. Its 13.3° horizontal field of view is narrower than the XQ19’s 19.5° view.

The XQ19 suits buyers who prioritise seeing more ground at once. Consider the XQ30 Pro when a more magnified starting view is useful for your usual observation distances.

Axion Compact XQ19 or Axion Compact XG30?

The Pulsar Axion Compact XG30 offers a higher-resolution 640 × 480 thermal sensor, 2–16x magnification and a longer quoted detection range of 1,300m. Its horizontal field of view is 14.6°.

Choose the XG30 when higher sensor resolution and longer-range detection are priorities. The XQ19 retains the wider starting view, making it useful for searching nearby ground and surveying larger sections of a scene.
