I own Vortex binoculars purchased previously from Uttings so I am familiar with the brand and quality. After some use of my binoculars I had a small fault and they were replaced rather than repaired therefore I know the guarantee is excellent. My first impressions of the scope are very favourable and I look forward to using it over the forthcoming months seawatching and viewing seabirds on their migration. The Phonescope digiscope converter was a welcome included freebie.

My first scope after reading online reviews and narrowing it down to the Razor and the Zeiss Garvia..both of which suited my budget I decided on the Razor primarly because of the lifetime warranty. The scope is excellent too. The image is clear and sharp with only a slight dulling of the image at full mag (something I had noted in most other scope reviews too).

I was torn between buying this or the 65mm Swarovski scope with their 2060 eyepiece as I already own the swaro 8.5 x 40 EL bins. However I have read multiple reviews and almost all of them outline the optical quality of the Vortex. The clincher in the deal was the fact I was buying an 85mm scope and case for over £400 less than the swaro. Swarovski are top class and have resolved a couple of issues Ive had in the past remarkably quickly however the Vortex VIP unconditional guarantee should provide the same level of after sales care as Swarovski does. Using the scope is a joy its very bright nice zoom excellent focussing and very sharp in terms of image presented at the eyepiece I can not detect any chromatic aberration in the image at all. The eyepiece has about 4 detectable stops as you wind it out and in for varying levels of eye relief. Up to now Im highly delighted with my purchase and feel that the scope will bring me many years of enjoyment.

Really well built and designed. Optics top notch. Even at full magnification the image stays really clear and bright. No chromatic aberration and is sharp to the edge of the view. Could spend twice as much or more on the very best but the margins in improved optics are slim. No quibble guarantee is also unbeatable and was a factor in the decision to go with Vortex

Typical quality from Vortex. Have several products now and cannot fault them good products and value for money backed up with a lifetime warranty whats not to like. Had to contact vortex re a previous purchase they went and made a video to tell me how to fix the issue I was having. I would recommend Vortex Optics to anyone!

I am completely happy with this product having had an opportunity to use it twice for birdwatching since its arrival. It it clear and sharp and colour is excellent. In particular I was happy at the ease of focus and clarity at full zoom settings. The carrying case is a nice bonus and Im pleased it can be left on during use although it does make access to the focus ring and zoom ring a bit awkward.I think an oversight by the manufacturers is the lack of short ties for the lens covers. When removed they must be put into a pocket but ties would allow them to dangle safely. The only reason I dont award 5 stars is due to comparison with the high end spotting scopes. But as regards value for money the shortcomings are so minor compared to the large difference in price that this scope is outstanding value.

Delighted with this scope, I use it for bird watching primarily and it is unbelievable value for money! The scope is easily as good if not better than 99% of the competition, the only scopes that are better are the Swaro 95mm and the Zeiss, even those two are only very slightly better! in most scenarios I don't think people will be able to tell the difference. It is a great product, it's durable, it performs brilliantly and feels very well made. I would have no problem recommending this scope!
