The magnification range covers the most common settings in birdwatching from scanning the terrain to accurate bird identification. With the wide-angle zoom it is possible to take photos of flocks of birds equally as well as detailed photos of individual species.

A word of warning for glasses wearers: The eye relief on this eyepiece is not great. so that the extra FOV available is lost unless you use it without your glasses, which is an inconvenience to say the least. Added to that, you need to get your eye positioned accurately to avoid blackouts, something that isn't at all easy to do. In summary for non spectacle wearers, it's an excellent eyepiece. For others it's a pain. I want my old Leica 77 and 32x eyepiece back!

This is the zoom eyepiece to go for - no question. Unlike its 20x60 'brother', this newer eyepiece retains wide-angle throughout the zoom. Simply put, your viewing 'porthole' image, doesn't get smaller as you zoom up.
